The Great Marsh Shellfish Co., is located on the Rowley River in Rowley, MA. They are dedicated to producing high-quality, sustainably-grown shellfish. Their location is nestled within the largest contiguous salt marsh in New England, The Great Marsh, which spans over 25,000 acres from the New Hampshire border to Cape Ann, Massachusetts. It is said that these oysters have an additional depth of flavor not found in land-based overwintered products, as they overwinter their oysters in the water, moving them from the primary site to the deep water in Plum Island Sound – these oysters are never stored on land. Their farm site is located in the middle of the estuary at the mouth of the Rowley River, with a strong tidal flow that brings in the saltwater to mix with the freshwater, creating the perfect brine for a delicious oyster. This is the first time in over 150 years the Rowley Oysters from the Great Marsh have been commercially available.
