Capt. Marciano remembers summers as a kid growing up in Ipswich until the age of 8 and dinner in the summer was oftentimes steamers dug that morning from the man in the little shack on the side of the road and a watermelon! These Ipswich steamer clams are sourced from local clam harvesters who “hand scratch” them fresh from sand flats on the coast of Gloucester, Essex, and Ipswich, Massachusetts. Our fresh dug steamer clams are between 2 and 2 ½ Inches in width and range in color from white to a dark grey color, a trait they adopt from the sand of the flats they are harvested from. Our friends at Intershell Seafoods recommend a visit to Finn’s Kitchen for how to store, prepare and eat! Fresh Overnight Delivery to your door! Please note - clams are a delicate item and some slight breakage may occur during shipping. Clams are still edible generally with slighly cracked shells. As long as the hinge has opened during steaming they are fine. If any doubt though, throw it out!
